The Japanese E-series is known for an exceptionally high build quality. The TL-556 features three small mini-toggle switches (one for each pickup). These allow you to turn each pickup on or off individually.

I’ve replaced the pickups. There are two DiMarzio FS-1s—one at the neck and one in the middle—which make the sound louder, smoother, and fatter. At the bridge, I’ve installed an DiMarzio SDS-1; it adds punch, gain, and warmth.

The jazz bass offers three distinctive tones: the deep, rumbling sound of the neck pickup, the sharp, nasal tone of the bridge pickup, and a balanced blend of both, resulting in a full sound with a subtle “mid scoop.”

It features a pair of highly acclaimed Epiphone ProBucker™ humbuckers™—a ProBucker 1 in the neck position and a slightly warmer ProBucker 2 in the bridge. The elements are connected using wiring in the style of the 1950s.

The humbucker delivers a warm sound with a clear, sparkling attack; when the 'push-pull' coil-splitting function is engaged, it takes on the character of a single-coil.
